The Board and the Societies
The District 16 Board is the representative of the district societies to the Ontario Horticultural Association. The Director of the district attends all OHA Board Meetings and communicates between the Societies and the OHA. One of the major tasks of the District Director and Assistant Directors is to install society officers at the Annual General Meetings of the individual societies.
There are three District meetings each year: the Annual General Meeting in April, the Presidents' Council in August, and the Fall Seminar in October. Societies take their turn hosting these District events. The District Director chairs these meetings, and the District helps in the financing of each event.
In addition the Board plans and hosts workshops helpful to the member societies.

District 16 has Youth Groups
Our youth are our next gardeners and the future members of our Horticultural Societies. The Societies of District 16 value their youth. Presently there are 6 youth groups in the district with a total of more than 300 youths participating.

In addition, Penetanguishene held youth activities during Summer 2009. Rona Amond created and lead the events.
